SL Destination # 4 : The Mystical Dreams Of Shekhawati India Part 1

For the next entry chronicling our incredible ongoing adventure exploring the beautiful sims of Second Life, we find ourselves at a destination we have visited numerous times. That being the mystical Shekhawati, India.

We were both spellbound by the beauty of the sim immediately upon arriving. The intricate textures of the build itself were immediately evident the moment we teleported in.

Rescued from the brink of extinction by the sim's current owners and builders, Rinaina and Ambi Bimbogami, the build is truly a land of enchantment. As we explored the region, we were astounded at the amount of detail and work which had been put into building what is without a doubt the finest Indian themed destination in Second Life.

The entire sim is filled with visual wonders. From the spectacular architecture, the many fountains, to the wildlife throughout the build, this is a photographer's paradise.

Turn a corner, and you'll see elephants bathing in a fountain, another tigers on a pedestal, or inside, lounging in the heat of the near tropical climate.

Not that architecture, wildlife and fountains are the only attractions to be found in Shekhawati.

Scattered liberally throughout the sim are numerous  dance balls, lending this location to dancing and romancing as well. Just be sure to keep your private parts well..private. It may be a mature sim, but your bits and pieces must be covered.

Think classy, not trashy and you'll get an idea of what the owners are wishing to convey here.

There is a lot of area to cover in what is a massive build. One can shop for indigenous clothing native to India, visit the art gallery or even go clubbing while there.

The music stream features a wonderful mix of Indian pop songs which helps to create a realistic, authentic atmosphere. There are also wedding facilities and other events happening all the time, so there is always something to see or do while visiting.

We spent numerous days here and still weren't able to see all that Shekhawati has to offer.

With the owners currently building more and more all the time -an additional sim was being added that we hadn't seen previously when we revisited today this has to be one of the most vast we have encountered in Second Life thus far.

Peacock*(Nat. Bird) & Rinainas' (Native Am.) Totem
In fact, there is so much to see here, we will be revisiting this sim for a part 2 in the not too distant future. If you're looking for a wonderful place to hang out for a few hours..few days...weeks, we highly recommend this destination.  To get a Peti-cab to Shekhawati, India, click here :

SL Destination # 3 : Down The Rabbit Hole At Dysphoria

For this month's chronicle of our wonderful journey through the incredible sims of Second Life, we find ourselves in a fantasy world called Dysphoria. Based on the classic novel 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' ( more commonly known to millions as Alice in Wonderland) by English writer Charles Dodgson under the pen name Lewis Carroll, it's a destination filled with magic, beauty and wonder, and must be regarded   as one of the finest builds in SL or any other virtual world online.

Without further ado, before we are late, let's turn things over to the lovely Bones Delicioso-Rocker, who so  kindly contributes her first hand experience at Dysphoria :

Dysphoria is defined as..
dys·pho·ria noun \dis-ˈfȯr-ē-ə\
Definition : a state of feeling unwell or unhappy
Origin of DYSPHORIA
New Latin, from Greek, from dysphoros hard to bear,
from dys- + pherein to bear
First Known Use: circa 1842

Who knew Webster's could be so erroneous? From the moment you step into the TP point..the sim sweeps you into the story of Alice from Charles Dodgsons' book "Through the Looking Glass".

I'm fairly gullible, I have to admit, I thought the TP point was the sim and I ooooo'd and awwwww'd snapping photo after photo and changing atmospheres. .Unwell? Unhappy? Those words are foreign to the Dysphoria sim...

SO...When Blue said, "Find the rabbit hole..Yes the rabbit hole, I was in that glorious moment just before something wonderful rezzes..and I was frozen there for a few moments as a log surrounded by dainty flowers, bright and vivid appeared and had to be captured. What got me moving was Blue. His descriptions of what he was seeing in the actual sim made the captivating sight before me a simple preview of what was to come...And if that was so, I was eager to take the plunge.

From the drop in the rabbits hole to the "eat me".."drink me" portion of the sim, I was in awe of how the builder and designer, Muse Muliaina has taken care of every detail. When I talked with Muse, who created the whole sim by herself, she said she will be expanding Dysphoria to include the realm of the White Queen and the home of the March Hare, and I can't wait to see what she comes up with!

Pretty soon I just didn't question anything.I just followed the path to Blue, and together we explored the Red Queen's Castle on the first night. We dressed in Boudoir Wonderland attire and sat arrogantly on thrones..demanding heads to be "off'd with" and then giving out directions to the victims of our dysphoric delusional RP.

The 2nd night we dressed as hatters, and this night we actually stayed in the sim all night. I was able to have a tiny exchange with a rabbit at the tea party in a silly and appropriate RP that ended with the rabbit getting up and grimly saying he had to go.."He was already late"....

The 3rd visit was all Alice..and the 4th a white sexy rabbit. All of the outfits I wore I can thank my partner Blue, for it made each visit an intimate and personal experience. You don't have to dress up to go, but don't let the adult inside you keep your inner child from running through the sim from top to bottom..press every button click everything that looks like it might explode , fly, dance, or give you a treat..and have fun.. This sim is about that from  the moment you step foot in the landing area to the northern lights displayed behind the hatter's home.

The builder and designer Muse Muliaina deserves to be recognized by anyone that loves creative building..has an imagination, a fondness for stories, color or likes surprises.
Pretty much anyone that comes to SL will appreciate the effort put into this astonishing virtual world. I can't wait to go back and see all the things I overlooked the first time, second and even third and fourth times, because I am absolutely sure I missed as much as I saw.

The days-and nights we spent on Dysphoria exploring and taking photos were some of the most magical we have spent thus far in the years we have been in Second Life, and certainly an experience we hope to repeat as often as time allows in the not too distant future. ~Blue & Bones/The Bagat

SL Destination # 2 : The Tropical Island Of Santaurio

The next stop in our glorious journey through the wonderful sims of Second Life leads us to the island of Santaurio.

Another of our destinations which shares a name with a real life counterpart - that being Isla Santuario a small secluded Island settled miles off the coast of Cancun, Mexico- the sim does retain a lot of the beauty and flavor of its lush, tropical namesake.

Flying After A Long Night Of Editing Wasn't A Good Idea
Immediately upon teleporting in, one can't help but be struck by the beauty of the surroundings. Not that reaching the island doesn't have its price, as the first things one sees is a downed plane. Initially consisting of a doomed jet, replete with flight attendants in various states of distress, recently the crash site has been downsized to that of a single engine propeller driven craft.

One caveat must be said before moving any further. To get onto the island, one must pay 300L to join the group in order to access anything else. A small price to pay in comparison to all the photo ops and things to explore while there in our opinion, although admittedly having to pay for access may be off putting to some. However for the price of a cheap pair of mesh shoes one can have an incredible experience. One which is well worth the price of admission and then some.

Life Is Beautiful In Santaurio
We first visited the island a few months ago, and loved the secluded waterways so much that we had no problem agreeing on Santaurio for the second of our sim spotlights. The main deck, situated down the beach from the wreckage is beautiful with lots of seating. It features clever lighting, wonderful for photo shoots, and some of the most lovely tropical flora in SL surrounding the site. One can just hang out, dance or just enjoy the spectacular view afforded of the ocean if one so desires.

Lush Beaches Abound In Santaurio
Some of the sim's secluded waterways and hideaways are not always easy to find, but when you stumble upon them you are always in awe.

Each turn seems to reveal something fabulous you didn't see before.

Shark Bone Hut
From the downed plane you can go ashore and find a little shark bone hut. It has salvage items and is appropriately decorated for the themed island.

Bat Cave At Santaurio
Behind the hut are lush trails to private beaches which we personally have not explored yet since we discovered the cave (complete with bats!) that Santaurio's builders tucked away into the hills. The colors and tones are incredible with the textures so detailed making it perfect for photo shoots. The last night we were there we spent the entire night shooting photo after photo.

The Lovely Bones Delicioso-Rocker Trying Out The Amenities
While in the cave we discovered that not only is Santaurio a beautiful place to visit, but it also lends itself to pursuits of a more *ahem* "adult" nature.

Coupled with the fact that with a group tag one can rez, it's a wonder we ever came out of the cave. Yes, it is an adult rated sim, so folks, leave the kiddos behind.

Hummingbird In Flight
During a previous visit to the sim, we spent a considerable amount of time amongst the water lilies and secluded waterways taking photos and enjoying the beauty. While there, we encountered a number of hummingbirds, which flew around the area, resulting in some wonderful photos, adding wildlife to a long list of attractions to see while exploring this island paradise. The very low lag enhances the enjoyability and contributes to the overall pleasurable experience to be had.

Embracing In The Surf At Santaurio
After a long day's exploring and shooting photos, there's always time to spend time with the one you love romancing and embracing in the surf. We hope that you've enjoyed our guide to the wonderful sim that is Santaurio. We look forward to seeing you in this wonderland in the near future! ~Blue & Bones/The Bagat

SL Destination # 1 : El Diablo At Scorpion Bay

The first stop on the beginning of our amazing journey through the wonderful sims of Second Life seemed appropriate, as it's our home, El Diablo at Scorpion Bay.

Very reminiscent of the coastline of Baja California, and based on the real life
Scorpion Bay @ San Juanico, its desert meets the sea design lends itself to a multitude of activities. While surfing and dedication to the Baja surf scene may be the sim's main attraction to newcomers, it's also a photographer's paradise.

Bones surfing the waves at El Diablo

The sim's creators, Wendi Boucher, Brooke and Mama Elephas have done a wonderful job in creating a very picturesque landscape in which to get some incredible shots. Which Bones and I take advantage of on a daily basis!

In addition to the aforementioned surfing, there are many other attractions to be had at El Diablo.

There's the ruins of an old Spanish mission church, complete with flying vultures, which serves as a great backdrop for photo shoots :

Hang gliding, windsurfing and a clothes optional beach (It's an adult rated sim, but please be respectful to others) are just a few of the many delights to be had at El Diablo At Scorpion Bay!
