SL Destination # 3 : Down The Rabbit Hole At Dysphoria

For this month's chronicle of our wonderful journey through the incredible sims of Second Life, we find ourselves in a fantasy world called Dysphoria. Based on the classic novel 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' ( more commonly known to millions as Alice in Wonderland) by English writer Charles Dodgson under the pen name Lewis Carroll, it's a destination filled with magic, beauty and wonder, and must be regarded   as one of the finest builds in SL or any other virtual world online.

Without further ado, before we are late, let's turn things over to the lovely Bones Delicioso-Rocker, who so  kindly contributes her first hand experience at Dysphoria :

Dysphoria is defined as..
dys·pho·ria noun \dis-ˈfȯr-ē-ə\
Definition : a state of feeling unwell or unhappy
Origin of DYSPHORIA
New Latin, from Greek, from dysphoros hard to bear,
from dys- + pherein to bear
First Known Use: circa 1842

Who knew Webster's could be so erroneous? From the moment you step into the TP point..the sim sweeps you into the story of Alice from Charles Dodgsons' book "Through the Looking Glass".

I'm fairly gullible, I have to admit, I thought the TP point was the sim and I ooooo'd and awwwww'd snapping photo after photo and changing atmospheres. .Unwell? Unhappy? Those words are foreign to the Dysphoria sim...

SO...When Blue said, "Find the rabbit hole..Yes the rabbit hole, I was in that glorious moment just before something wonderful rezzes..and I was frozen there for a few moments as a log surrounded by dainty flowers, bright and vivid appeared and had to be captured. What got me moving was Blue. His descriptions of what he was seeing in the actual sim made the captivating sight before me a simple preview of what was to come...And if that was so, I was eager to take the plunge.

From the drop in the rabbits hole to the "eat me".."drink me" portion of the sim, I was in awe of how the builder and designer, Muse Muliaina has taken care of every detail. When I talked with Muse, who created the whole sim by herself, she said she will be expanding Dysphoria to include the realm of the White Queen and the home of the March Hare, and I can't wait to see what she comes up with!

Pretty soon I just didn't question anything.I just followed the path to Blue, and together we explored the Red Queen's Castle on the first night. We dressed in Boudoir Wonderland attire and sat arrogantly on thrones..demanding heads to be "off'd with" and then giving out directions to the victims of our dysphoric delusional RP.

The 2nd night we dressed as hatters, and this night we actually stayed in the sim all night. I was able to have a tiny exchange with a rabbit at the tea party in a silly and appropriate RP that ended with the rabbit getting up and grimly saying he had to go.."He was already late"....

The 3rd visit was all Alice..and the 4th a white sexy rabbit. All of the outfits I wore I can thank my partner Blue, for it made each visit an intimate and personal experience. You don't have to dress up to go, but don't let the adult inside you keep your inner child from running through the sim from top to bottom..press every button click everything that looks like it might explode , fly, dance, or give you a treat..and have fun.. This sim is about that from  the moment you step foot in the landing area to the northern lights displayed behind the hatter's home.

The builder and designer Muse Muliaina deserves to be recognized by anyone that loves creative building..has an imagination, a fondness for stories, color or likes surprises.
Pretty much anyone that comes to SL will appreciate the effort put into this astonishing virtual world. I can't wait to go back and see all the things I overlooked the first time, second and even third and fourth times, because I am absolutely sure I missed as much as I saw.

The days-and nights we spent on Dysphoria exploring and taking photos were some of the most magical we have spent thus far in the years we have been in Second Life, and certainly an experience we hope to repeat as often as time allows in the not too distant future. ~Blue & Bones/The Bagat
